DC433AFE-101C-4317-8D24-79F9E5B02A22Hi my loves! I went to an amazing Armani Beauty event last night that was also a meet and greet with Marianna Hewitt so I thought I’d share some pictures from the event and my experience. It was the first beauty event I’ve attended in NYC so I was so excited!

So first let’s talk about the event. I found out about it through Marianna Hewitt’s secondary Instagram page @blogwithme. It’s a page she uses to share her personal tips and experiences on blogging for the rest of us rookie bloggers to learn a little something. She’s so helpful and I’m so appreciative that she made this page to help others in her industry succeed. So I quickly signed up as soon as she announced an event in NYC. The event was held in Soho at the Armani Box pop up shop. They have all of their amazing beauty products lined up for everyone to try on and test out. I decided to trust one of the makeup artists there and let him pick me out a lip color to purchase. I ended up with the lip magnet in shade 500 which he insisted when I wore it, it should be named “free drinks all night.” I was laughing because it was such a cute thing to say. They also engraved each lipstick personally as an adorable little bonus for purchasing a product at the event.

Meeting Marianna Hewitt was amazing. I saw her as soon as I walked in and she is SO tiny in person. She is so stunning and looks just as beautiful as she does in her photos. I waited until later in the event to say hi because she had a lot of people around her. She was so sweet and down to earth and even checked back in with me later when she saw me buying a product to ask what I had bought. It just makes me want to support her and her brand even more knowing that she’s such a genuine person.

My absolute favorite part of the event was the photo booth! You guys!!!!!! They had red glitter confetti blowing up in the air with a cute little video being taken of you. It was by far the cutest thing I’ve ever seen so of course I had to do it! I met another blogger while waiting in line to do the photo booth and we chit chatted and decided to take pictures for each other so we had some extra content from the event! She was so sweet. Her IG handle is @g_for_grace go give her a follow!

Overall, it was a fun filled night and I met so many genuinely sweet bloggers as well as fellow New Yorkers. I can’t wait to attend more of these types of events in the near future and try some more beauty products from Armani Beauty!

Don’t forget to keep up with me on Instagram @denise_whelan and thanks for stopping by loves!!

Hello my little lovebug chickadee babes ♥️ First of all, I just want to get super sappy and say thank you a million for 1,000 followers on Instagram. I know it’s a small number but it means the world to me to be able to share my passion and love with even just 1,000 of you! Hopefully a few years from now I’ll be thanking 100,000 of you but until then, let’s talk about my current beauty favorites shall we? Okay cool.

This Josie Maran Vibrancy foundation has been the answer to my dry skin needs! Before Fall and Winter, I was way more into matte foundations but my skin completely changes with the weather so my foundation has to as well. Matte foundations just cake up and make my skin look worse in the winter. I had heard some great reviews on this foundation and heard that it was super dewy which was exactly what I was looking for! This bad boy is light/medium coverage and definitely dewy. I personally don’t LOVE full coverage foundations, I prefer medium coverage and then to use concealer to cover up any blemishes or dark spots, so this is perfect for me. Any time I do a full face of makeup, this is the foundation I’ve been reaching for. I’ve been using it in the shade “Supernatural” which is a fair neutral shade and it retails for $45.

Who loves a good setting spray? I know I do! Not to be repetitive, but my skin needs some moisture and glow since it’s dry and dull in this weather. This Cover FX Illuminating Setting Spray came in my last Boxy Charm box and I am OBSESSED! For those of you who don’t know what Boxy Charm is, check out my blog post on it! This spray helps my makeup sink into my skin while giving me a luminous glow and it retails for $31. Also, I love how fine the mist comes out because we all know a bad mist on a setting spray can ruin the whole product and your full face of makeup! Long story short, you need this for your dry, dull winter skin. You can thank me later.

Whatever your feelings about the Kardashians or Kylie Jenner are, she makes a damn good liquid lipstick. I love the formula of her matte liquid lipsticks and I have a few shades from the range. My favorite for Fall is the shade ‘Kristen’. This shade, actually named after Kris Jenner is the perfect Fall shade for an in between neutral and bold lip! I’ll insert a pic of me wearing it here and I don’t even need to do any extra explaining. The Kylie Cosmetics liquid lip alone is $17 and if you buy the lip kit that includes the creamy lip liner it’s $29.

Processed with VSCO with v3 presetAnorher favorite for me currently is the classic red lip. I love the formula of this Colourpop lippie pencil in the shade ‘Bossy’ and it only costs $5 people… $5!!! It glides on super smooth but doesn’t feather like a lot of other lip liners can do. It’s also the perfect ‘blue hued red’ meaning it has more of a blue undertone, therefore making your teeth look whiter. It’s my favorite shade of red to wear, especially during the holidays. Of course I’ll put a picture right below of what it looks like on the lips!

This Origins face mask is a life saver for me. Dry skin=problematic skin in my world and this product helps me keep the breakouts at bay. The Origins clear improvement active charcoal mask will take my skin from a dry sandpaper texture with breakouts to a smooth breakout free status in only 1-2 uses! No joke!! This mask is my secret weapon for when my skin is misbehaving and it’s only $27 and lasts for a few months. I’ve repurchased it multiple times and even have my husband using it occasionally. Shhhhh don’t tell him I told you guys 😉 haha. I’ve tried a few different charcoal masks and this is by far my favorite.

You guys I love this stuff!! I’m always so hesitant when buying serums because, well one they are expensive as hell, and two, I have super sensitive skin. So the last thing I want to do is spend $50-$100 on a serum that doesn’t work or that irritates my skin. I bought this specific serum for $48 on the recommendation of a Sephora employee and it’s also on the Sephora best sellers list. Okay so first let’s talk about what it CLAIMS to do. The Olehenriksen Truth serum says it’s a remedy for dry, dull skin with uneven texture and has a loss of firmness and elasticity. Check, check and check! It’s described on the Sephora website as a multivitamin for your skin. It says it helps brighten and visibly firm your skin with the power of Vitamin C and collagen. I’ve heard so many amazing things about vitamin C for the skin so I had to try this out. I’ve been using it for a few weeks and can definitely tell the difference. Is this a miracle product? No. Has it improved my skin and is it worth the money? Yes!

Last but definitely not least, I’m obsessed with this Kenzo perfume! I ordered a sample of this with a previous Sephora order and immediately fell in love after trying it once. Its $87 for the 1oz bottle which is pricey but it’s worth it to me. It smells sweet, but mature and perfect for a Fall signature scent in my opinion. Describing smells is so difficult so I’m just going to tell you that I usually lean towards sweet, warm, floral scents and list the notes below for you. KENZO World Eau de Parfume: NOTES: Peony, Jasmine, Ambroxyn Crystals STYLE: Sensual, Modern, Cool. Also, the fact that the bottle looks like an evil eye, which you all know I’m obsessed with, doesn’t hurt.

Hope that my current favorites help you decide on some new products to treat yourself to. Thanks for reading and as always don’t forget to keep up with me on Instagram! Follow me @denise_whelan

Hello my loves! Welcome back 🙂 I just recently received my monthly Boxycharm  for August and I thought I’d give you guys a peak! I am seriously in love with this subscription box. Every month I am consistently impressed by the FULL SIZE products I receive for only $21 a month. There are times where I do not like every single product, but I usually love at least 2 or 3 of them and would 100% pay $21 for those two products alone! So, I would say if you haven’t tried this subscription box yet, you totally should. Okay let’s just get into this months box!

First thing I grabbed was the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Volume ll eyeshadow palette. I love getting Tarte products in these boxes and especially an entire eyeshadow palette. I love the colors in this one, very neutral and wearable. Most of these eyeshadows were not super pigmented but definitely perfect for everyday wear. The palette had zero fallout which is nice because I like to do my foundation first. I used the shades Pearl, Conch, Marina, Seaside and Breezy. I used Breezy all over the lid and it’s such a beautiful color! Gives you that sultry look without having to try too hard. This palette retails for $36.

So next thing I was drawn to in the box was the trio brush set. I love getting brushes in my box because I legit hate spending money on makeup brushes. I don’t know why, but it pains me to spend money on good brushes, but they really do make such a difference when applying your makeup. The Moda Pro 3 piece brush set came with a crease brush, a chisel brush and a pointed blush brush (say that fast three times) haha. To be honest, I’ll probably never use the chisel brush, but I love the crease eyeshadow brush for blending shadows and I used the pointed blush brush to powder my face but I would consider using it for blush too. These brushes were super soft and not scratchy at all. The handles are that soft touch material which makes them feel so luxurious and expensive. This brush trio retails for $26.

Next up, I saw these super wispy falsies! Now, I do not wear false lashes so I wasn’t super excited about this product, but I’ll keep them on deck in case I need them for a special event or something because they look so stunning! They are the PÜR Cosmetics Pro Lashes and they retail for $14.

Next up, this cute little lip/cheek product from Aloette. It is actually called a face paint, so I’m assuming that you could use this for any sort of make (eyeshadow, cheek stain, lip tint.) I personally don’t like using cream products on my face but this made for a beautiful lip color and was super easy to apply. It stained my lips for HOURS which is amazing. This product retails for $35! That’s expensive but I can see how this product would last you an extremely long time since you don’t need much to see the color pay off.

Next product was a black gel liner pencil from Bellapierre. This eyeliner also claims to be waterproof. I must have like 1,000 different black eyeliners in my collection at this point and I honestly rarely ever wear eyeliner but hey, I know a lot of other people do. After applying this product, it’s definitely not as black and pigmented as I’d like but it definitely stayed on my water line for a long time. Overall not my favorite and it retails for $15.

Did that seem like a million products to you? I felt like they were never going to end!! I really enjoy the Tarte eyeshadow palette, the Aloette face paint and the Moda makeup brushes. Definitely makes this box worth the $21 I paid for it. The total value of this months box was $126!!! That’s so crazy to me! Anyway, if I haven’t already said it a million times, this subscription box is soooooooo good and sooooo worth the monthly price of $21. Okay my loves that is all the information I have for your pretty faces today. Talk to you next time!

Review:

I honestly love this palette. It has a very wide range of shades both neutral and colorful. It does not have many cool tone shades, but I rarely ever use cool tones anyway. I’m missing a light matte shade to set my eye lids with or to highlight the brow bone with, but that’s not a deal breaker. The shades are extremely pigmented and blend out so easily. They do have a bit of kick up/fallout but that’s to be expected with pigmented shadows so just be careful with your undereye area when using this palette. My only real con for this palette is how dirty is gets. Because Jaclyn decided to go with a white and silver palette, the shadows get all over and makes it look dingy. Although, as long as your not taking pictures of it, who really cares? The value of this palette is amazing for the quantity of shadows you get and the quality of each shadow.

So, I thought I would share with you guys my most used shadows in the palette and also my favorite shadows in the palette. Obviously my most used are neutral and wearable daily and my favorite shadows are ones that I would wear when getting all jazzed up to go out.

MOST USED SHADOWS:

From bottom to top (left to right): Beam, Silk creme, M.F.E.O, Sissy, Butter, Pukey, Buns

FAVORITE SHADOWS:

From bottom to top: Firework, Queen, Roxanne, Meeks, Pool party, Royalty, Twerk, Jada

That’s it!! That’s all I have  I say about this beautiful palette. Hope you all loved this post, and don’t forget to keep up with me daily on Instagram @alexandra_avenue.

Hello loves! Welcome to my first blog post, I am so glad that you’re here. I went back and fourth many times about what I wanted my first post to be about, should I do a get to know me post, outfit of the day, or a favorites post? just simply couldn’t decide. Then, I was coming home from work and checked my mail and my Boxycharm monthly subscription box had finally arrived. I always look forward to this box every month but this month I was super impressed. So, I decided right then and there that I should do a post on my Boxycharm box. Not only am I super passionate about the box every month, but I was genuinely inspired to try these products out.

Let’s get into it! Check out what was in my July 2017 Boxycharm.

Immediately, I was drawn to the Blinc “Electric Eyes” eyeshadow palette, which retails for $45. The colors are 100% the tones that I am obsessed with; warm, shimmery goodness! After swatching these shadows I was even more excited to try them out. They are creamy and hella pigmented, yet they don’t have much fallout which is amazing. The only negative thing I have to say about this eyeshadow palette is that it doesn’t have any matte shades, therefore you’ll need another palette or single shadow to complete an eye look. However, the shades are beautiful and you can create so many different eye looks with these shadows.

Wear test: After wearing these shadows for 4+ hours in the NYC summer heat I did not notice any slippage or fading. The shadows stayed in place and shimmered beautifully in the sunshine. My opinion A+++

Can I just say that I’m super impressed that a Bare Minerals product was in my box this month? Bare Minerals was one of the first non drug store makeup brands that I ever used and they constantly put out quality products. I was stoked when I saw that it was a powder duo, because you can never have too many quality powders in your makeup collection. This translucent powder duo in the shade “invisible light” didn’t swatch the best, it was a little gritty if I’m being honest, but I’ll give any product a fair shot. I used the matte side to set my under eye and t-zone with a fluffy powder brush and dusted the glow side on the rest of my face with a large powder brush to set my foundation. This product has a retail value of $32.

Wear test: After half a day, I noticed that my concealer was creasing under my eyes more than usual, which is not ideal. However, I won’t write off the matte powder just yet, I’ll try it with a different concealer first. As far as the glow powder goes, I love that its glow is more of a sheen and not glittery. I think it would be extremely flattering on mature skin. I’m definitely a fan of the glow side, as it did not sit on top of the skin, it just made me like healthy and hydrated.

Sooooooooooo, I love Colourpop! My love for this brand is unreal. I have purchased many of their products on my own, so when I saw a Colourpop lippie I was a bit nervous that I’d already have the shade (which has happened before in other boxes.) Nonetheless, it never hurts to have a backup of a product. To my surprise, it was a shade that I didn’t have yet; their Ulta Matte Lippie in “Beeper.” This shade is extremely popular from my understanding, a shade that is similar to Kat Von D’s “Lolita.” I have to say, not my favorite shade on myself but I can see how it is very flattering on others.

Weat test: I put this on around 11am, ate brunch, walked around in the hot sun for two hours and it barely budged. It wore a little in the very center, but every liquid lipstick I’ve ever tried does the same thing. Overall, an amazing formula and very long wearing, just not a major fan of the shade for the summer. Although, this shade would be a perfect neutral for the fall.

Next up, the Uni-brow universal eyebrow pencil by WinkyLux, retail value of $12. I have never heard of this brand, but that’s part of what I love about this box. I’ve discovered many new brands from Boxycharm that their products have become some of my holy grails. This is my type of brow product because it has a pencil on one side and a spoolie on the other. It says the shade is universal which always makes me nervous, since my brows are honestly non existent, but let’s try it anyway!

Wear test: Not my favorite brow product I’ve ever used. I noticed throughout the day that it faded and I even hit my brow with my sunglasses at one point and the brow product transferred onto my upper brow which is never a good look. Also, I found shape of the pencil a bit difficult to work with considering my brows are fairly small and the product was a bit thick. The shade is also a bit too dark for my brows since I am sooooooooooo blonde and fair. Overall, not my fave.

The last product was the Spray. Set. Go makeup setting spray by Project Beauty with a retail value of $32. I must say that I am a huge fan of makeup setting sprays but I don’t usually vary in the brands that I buy. I have my go to’s and I don’t really mess with that part of my makeup routine. However, let’s try this thing!

Wear test: First off, I love the spray nozzle on this product. If you use setting sprays, you know what a disaster it can be if you are completely finished with your makeup and spray a setting spray on with a bad nozzle. It’s like giant droplets only there to ruin your day and your makeup. Okay, not that serious but you know what I mean. Once you’re done with your makeup, you want to be able to spray your face with a hydrating spray that makes your makeup last and go on with your day. I’ll have to test out this product more, but so far I think it did a great job of making my makeup last, plus it gets major bonus points for the fine mist.

The total value of this month’s box was $127. Whattttttt, I know! It’s crazy right? How do they get away with giving you $127 worth of products for $21? I’ll never understand, but I am totally here for it.
