Hello my little lovebug chickadee babes ♥️ First of all, I just want to get super sappy and say thank you a million for 1,000 followers on Instagram. I know it’s a small number but it means the world to me to be able to share my passion and love with even just 1,000 of you! Hopefully a few years from now I’ll be thanking 100,000 of you but until then, let’s talk about my current beauty favorites shall we? Okay cool.

This Josie Maran Vibrancy foundation has been the answer to my dry skin needs! Before Fall and Winter, I was way more into matte foundations but my skin completely changes with the weather so my foundation has to as well. Matte foundations just cake up and make my skin look worse in the winter. I had heard some great reviews on this foundation and heard that it was super dewy which was exactly what I was looking for! This bad boy is light/medium coverage and definitely dewy. I personally don’t LOVE full coverage foundations, I prefer medium coverage and then to use concealer to cover up any blemishes or dark spots, so this is perfect for me. Any time I do a full face of makeup, this is the foundation I’ve been reaching for. I’ve been using it in the shade “Supernatural” which is a fair neutral shade and it retails for $45.

Who loves a good setting spray? I know I do! Not to be repetitive, but my skin needs some moisture and glow since it’s dry and dull in this weather. This Cover FX Illuminating Setting Spray came in my last Boxy Charm box and I am OBSESSED! For those of you who don’t know what Boxy Charm is, check out my blog post on it! This spray helps my makeup sink into my skin while giving me a luminous glow and it retails for $31. Also, I love how fine the mist comes out because we all know a bad mist on a setting spray can ruin the whole product and your full face of makeup! Long story short, you need this for your dry, dull winter skin. You can thank me later.

Whatever your feelings about the Kardashians or Kylie Jenner are, she makes a damn good liquid lipstick. I love the formula of her matte liquid lipsticks and I have a few shades from the range. My favorite for Fall is the shade ‘Kristen’. This shade, actually named after Kris Jenner is the perfect Fall shade for an in between neutral and bold lip! I’ll insert a pic of me wearing it here and I don’t even need to do any extra explaining. The Kylie Cosmetics liquid lip alone is $17 and if you buy the lip kit that includes the creamy lip liner it’s $29.

Processed with VSCO with v3 presetAnorher favorite for me currently is the classic red lip. I love the formula of this Colourpop lippie pencil in the shade ‘Bossy’ and it only costs $5 people… $5!!! It glides on super smooth but doesn’t feather like a lot of other lip liners can do. It’s also the perfect ‘blue hued red’ meaning it has more of a blue undertone, therefore making your teeth look whiter. It’s my favorite shade of red to wear, especially during the holidays. Of course I’ll put a picture right below of what it looks like on the lips!

This Origins face mask is a life saver for me. Dry skin=problematic skin in my world and this product helps me keep the breakouts at bay. The Origins clear improvement active charcoal mask will take my skin from a dry sandpaper texture with breakouts to a smooth breakout free status in only 1-2 uses! No joke!! This mask is my secret weapon for when my skin is misbehaving and it’s only $27 and lasts for a few months. I’ve repurchased it multiple times and even have my husband using it occasionally. Shhhhh don’t tell him I told you guys 😉 haha. I’ve tried a few different charcoal masks and this is by far my favorite.

You guys I love this stuff!! I’m always so hesitant when buying serums because, well one they are expensive as hell, and two, I have super sensitive skin. So the last thing I want to do is spend $50-$100 on a serum that doesn’t work or that irritates my skin. I bought this specific serum for $48 on the recommendation of a Sephora employee and it’s also on the Sephora best sellers list. Okay so first let’s talk about what it CLAIMS to do. The Olehenriksen Truth serum says it’s a remedy for dry, dull skin with uneven texture and has a loss of firmness and elasticity. Check, check and check! It’s described on the Sephora website as a multivitamin for your skin. It says it helps brighten and visibly firm your skin with the power of Vitamin C and collagen. I’ve heard so many amazing things about vitamin C for the skin so I had to try this out. I’ve been using it for a few weeks and can definitely tell the difference. Is this a miracle product? No. Has it improved my skin and is it worth the money? Yes!

Last but definitely not least, I’m obsessed with this Kenzo perfume! I ordered a sample of this with a previous Sephora order and immediately fell in love after trying it once. Its $87 for the 1oz bottle which is pricey but it’s worth it to me. It smells sweet, but mature and perfect for a Fall signature scent in my opinion. Describing smells is so difficult so I’m just going to tell you that I usually lean towards sweet, warm, floral scents and list the notes below for you. KENZO World Eau de Parfume: NOTES: Peony, Jasmine, Ambroxyn Crystals STYLE: Sensual, Modern, Cool. Also, the fact that the bottle looks like an evil eye, which you all know I’m obsessed with, doesn’t hurt.

Hope that my current favorites help you decide on some new products to treat yourself to. Thanks for reading and as always don’t forget to keep up with me on Instagram! Follow me @denise_whelan

Hi my loves! I cannot believe it’s been so long since I’ve written a blog post! Sorry for the lack of posts, but those of you who follow me on Instagram know that this month has been insane for me. Just a small little rundown of the craziness for you; my husband and I flew down to Florida for my cousin’s wedding, then flew back on Monday, flew back out that same Friday after work to go to Portland, Oregon to take my brother in laws engagement pictures, flew back on a red eye on Sunday night to be back at work on Monday… THEN… had to pack up our entire apartment and moved into the city that weekend and now we are here. PHEW! How’s that for a run on sentence and a busy couple of weeks? I know!! So now we are mostly settled into our new place so I can finally share some blog posts about my October excursions with you lovely people.

Tampa, Florida is home to me. It’s where I grew up and it’s where most of my family still lives. We made this specific trip down for my cousin’s wedding and as an added bonus my oldest brother also came down to Florida with my nieces at the same time. We were only there for 4 days but we definitely made the most of it! So here’s the breakdown!!

Day One:

This day was so much fun. I got to wake up and have breakfast with my nieces and just enjoy their company after not seeing them for 9 months. I ran a few errands with my mom for nieces birthday party that was happening the following day and then met my best friend/sister in law for happy hour! My sister in law is also my best friend, yes people it’s possible!! We always have so much fun together and she just had her first baby, who is about 4 months old so we have so many new topics to discuss. Later that day we went back to my brothers house (the younger of the two brothers who’s wife is my best friend) for some dinner and just to hang out. It was truly such a relaxing and comforting night.

Day Two:

This was the day of my nieces birthday party. My nieces both have birthdays in October; the youngest just turned one and the oldest just turned three. We had a donut themed birthday party for them and it was just about the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. It was such a fun party with family all around, I truly enjoyed myself. My other best friend came to the party to take some pics, so we left when the party was done for a night out! We headed down to SoHo for some drinks and dinner and really just had the best time catching up and enjoying each other’s company. We’ve been best friends for over 10 years so it’s always the best time with her!

Day Three:

This was the day of the wedding and by far my favorite day. My hubby and I woke up early to meet my brother and sister in law bestie at the mall to do some last minute wedding gift shopping (nothing like procrastinating right?) Then hubby and I decided to go get some lunch to put some food in our stomachs before the wedding. Let me tell you, I’ve learned my lesson the hard way about not eating enough before you attend a wedding, ALWAYS eat before hand. So we went to lunch and then headed back to my parents to get ready. This ride back to the house was absolutely magical for me. My husband and I had decided to rent a sports car off of Turo instead of renting a regular sedan, so my hubby could have a little fun. Best decision ever. He decided to rent a gorgeous red Viper for the weekend. So I’ll try to explain to you guys why this ride was so magical for us. 3 years ago my husband and I made the decision to move away from our comfort zone in Florida to take on the big city NYC. Our family wasn’t thrilled with our decision and many friends even bet how long we would last in New York before we came back home. Needless to say, we definitely moved up to NY with something to prove. Fast forward to present time, we were driving a sick sports car down the street we used to drive every day with the top down, knowing when we went back home we were moving into our first Manhattan apartment. We had so much to be proud of and thankful for and I literally looked at my husband and said “three years ago did you ever think we would be living in Manhattan on a vacation in Florida driving a viper around without a care in the world?” Then we just looked at each other and smiled and laughed. It was such a satisfying moment to finally feel like all the hard work that we had been putting in the past three years was finally starting to pay off. We both really needed that moment. It was truly just everything to us. Now how can I even follow that up? Haha! We got ready for the wedding and headed over to the venue. We rode with my bestie sis in law and my brother and jammed out the whole way. The ceremony was absolutely beautiful and I’m so happy that my cousin found love! We drank and danced the night away with family which is my favorite thing in the world to do. It was so hot and humid, as Florida usually is, but after a few glasses of wine I no longer cared about the heat and just danced for hours and hours. It was a fun, carefree and spectacular night and just an amazing way to end our trip to Florida.

Day Four:

There’s not much to say about day 4 since we flew back home this day. We woke up and had our last breakfast with our nieces and family. It was relaxing and blissful. I woke up feeling satisfied and content. It was an amazing, drama free trip home and that’s all I can really ask for.

Until next time Tampa ✌🏻🌴

Hello my loves!! Welcome back 🙂 Today I’m mixing up some Moscow Mules for you guys. I feel like this year, the Moscow Mule was the unofficial drink of the summer, and since summer is about to be over what better way to say goodbye than with a recipe for this elegant and easy cocktail. As a bartender, I realized that so many people had just learned about this drink and were wanting to try it out (mainly because of the adorable copper mug it comes in). There are so many delicious variations of the mule but I figured that I would keep it simple this time around! So, let’s just get right into the ingredients shall we?

Copper MugProcessed with VSCO with n1 preset

I purchased these cute little copper mugs at TJ Maxx but I know you can get them pretty much anywhere at this point. I’ve seen them at Target, Homegoods and on Amazon too.

Now that you have all of the ingredients, building your cocktail is the easiest part. Just fill your pretty little copper mug up all the way up with ice (I prefer crushed ice for this beverage.) Then add right on top of the ice..

2oz of your favorite vodka

.5oz of lime juice

As much or as little agave syrup as you’d like (I don’t like any, my husband likes about 3/4 oz in his)

Fill to the top with ginger beer (whichever brand you prefer, they have a ton of options at the liquor store and they all taste so different, the one I chose is more spicy and less sweet which is why my husband likes the agave syrup added to his!)

Stir and enjoy!

How crazy easy was that? It’s such a simple yet elegant drink that’s so fun to drink and plus it’s adorable. Makes for a great insta post, am I right? 😉 Some like to garnish this cocktail with a mint/basil leaf, I just kept it simple with a lime wheel.

Hello my loves!! This past weekend I had family in town and we did so many fun things. We truly had the best weekend just spending time with each other and having some good laughs but one of my favorite parts was going to this adorable spot with our nephew. The place was called the SeaGlass Carousel (thanks to my brother in law for insisting on us going there.) It’s downtown in Battery Park. It’s like your usual merry go round/carousel except that it’s sea themed. It has fish and seashells for seats and it lights up and glows, which really makes for the cutest photos and experience. I just couldn’t resist blogging about this place because it was just so adorable.

So there’s really not much more to say about this spot except that I can’t wait until I have kids so that I can bring them here! Here’s a few pics we took while we were there. Enjoy!

Hello my loves! Welcome back 🙂 I just recently received my monthly Boxycharm  for August and I thought I’d give you guys a peak! I am seriously in love with this subscription box. Every month I am consistently impressed by the FULL SIZE products I receive for only $21 a month. There are times where I do not like every single product, but I usually love at least 2 or 3 of them and would 100% pay $21 for those two products alone! So, I would say if you haven’t tried this subscription box yet, you totally should. Okay let’s just get into this months box!

Processed with VSCO with n1 preset

First thing I grabbed was the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Volume ll eyeshadow palette. I love getting Tarte products in these boxes and especially an entire eyeshadow palette. I love the colors in this one, very neutral and wearable. Most of these eyeshadows were not super pigmented but definitely perfect for everyday wear. The palette had zero fallout which is nice because I like to do my foundation first. I used the shades Pearl, Conch, Marina, Seaside and Breezy. I used Breezy all over the lid and it’s such a beautiful color! Gives you that sultry look without having to try too hard. This palette retails for $36.

So next thing I was drawn to in the box was the trio brush set. I love getting brushes in my box because I legit hate spending money on makeup brushes. I don’t know why, but it pains me to spend money on good brushes, but they really do make such a difference when applying your makeup. The Moda Pro 3 piece brush set came with a crease brush, a chisel brush and a pointed blush brush (say that fast three times) haha. To be honest, I’ll probably never use the chisel brush, but I love the crease eyeshadow brush for blending shadows and I used the pointed blush brush to powder my face but I would consider using it for blush too. These brushes were super soft and not scratchy at all. The handles are that soft touch material which makes them feel so luxurious and expensive. This brush trio retails for $26.

Next up, I saw these super wispy falsies! Now, I do not wear false lashes so I wasn’t super excited about this product, but I’ll keep them on deck in case I need them for a special event or something because they look so stunning! They are the PÜR Cosmetics Pro Lashes and they retail for $14.

Next up, this cute little lip/cheek product from Aloette. It is actually called a face paint, so I’m assuming that you could use this for any sort of make (eyeshadow, cheek stain, lip tint.) I personally don’t like using cream products on my face but this made for a beautiful lip color and was super easy to apply. It stained my lips for HOURS which is amazing. This product retails for $35! That’s expensive but I can see how this product would last you an extremely long time since you don’t need much to see the color pay off.

Next product was a black gel liner pencil from Bellapierre. This eyeliner also claims to be waterproof. I must have like 1,000 different black eyeliners in my collection at this point and I honestly rarely ever wear eyeliner but hey, I know a lot of other people do. After applying this product, it’s definitely not as black and pigmented as I’d like but it definitely stayed on my water line for a long time. Overall not my favorite and it retails for $15.

Did that seem like a million products to you? I felt like they were never going to end!! I really enjoy the Tarte eyeshadow palette, the Aloette face paint and the Moda makeup brushes. Definitely makes this box worth the $21 I paid for it. The total value of this months box was $126!!! That’s so crazy to me! Anyway, if I haven’t already said it a million times, this subscription box is soooooooo good and sooooo worth the monthly price of $21. Okay my loves that is all the information I have for your pretty faces today. Talk to you next time!

Leave a comment below of what your favorite subscription box is and don’t forget to keep up with me daily on Instagram @alexandra_avenue!!
